A Visit to Koen Creek

Permalink 10:11:22 am, Categories: Announcements [A]

Judy Koen is a good friend and fellow folk diva. When she performs, she crafts a sort of magic as she transports her audience to a place where you have the virtual experience of living the music.

As one of the most well rounded historians I know of 70’s music, it seemed inconceivable that I would not choose her as one of my first guests for Music and the Muse - after all we share many of the same influences (…and she adds her own experiences to flavor every tale).

When I listen to her recent release, “Koen Creek", I am in awe: of the beauty, the simplicity, the ability to draw in the listener and invite them to make the project their own and to merge with it.

Just like a cherished visit to your favorite aunt or cousins house - you know the one who never lets you leave empty handed: she always sends you home with fresh baked cookies, your favorite dish or some family treasure - You can’t help but leave “Koen Creek” with your heart full.

So to you my friend, I raise my glass: may you touch many more lives with many more projects and many more beautiful songs, but then….

…I already know that you will.

Sacred Fire: Lighting the Path to Inspired Purpose

Permalink 08:46:43 am, Categories: Announcements [A]

I am meeting so many people who are seeking some greater meaning, or authenticity, around their life purpose. A small but stirring voice in their head (and their heart) is urging them to come to terms with their innermost desires, aligning them with their passions, and causing them to seek answers in ways different than they would have before.

It is perhaps because I am on this journey myself that I can easily notice others on their path. While there are always concerns and plans to be made when undertaking anything new, this rite of passage is marked by one distinct feature: Trust. Trust in ones own abilities and trust in something greater than yourself. Enough trust in fact, that from the deepest voices of our soul we know that the path that is chosen is the only one to be taken.

It is a point of no return unaccompanied by fear.

The other cardinal sign is light. This is the best metaphor available for an inspired purpose that spreads like a contagion. One who bears the “Sacred Fire” (as I am so fond of calling it these days), illuminates everyone and everything around them: fueling others in their own passions while creating and tending to the essence of all that is good.

June 23, and June 24, 2008 explores that very subject. By tuning in to www.blogtalkradio.com/thevortexnetwork at 7 pm you’ll be able to gain personal insights to my friend Terry Hinkle’s inspired purpose as well my own. Terry is the creator of The Vortex Network and author of “PlanBe” as well as hosting a program on Monday nights by the same name.

“PlanBe” will Feature “Sacred Fire…Part I, Igniting the Spark” Monday June 23, 2008 at 7 pm CST and then Tuesday will continue on the program “Music and The Muse” (again at 7pm CST) when we discuss “Sacred Fire…Part II, Fanning the Flame”

Join us … and join the discussion, we will be taking calls and would love to hear stories about your own ‘Sacred Fire’.
